RKM Fights to Protect Widow and Children’s Benefits at Court of Appeal
Rose, Klein & Marias LLP attorney Robert Vines successfully protected benefits for the widow and children of a deceased safety officer at the California Court of Appeal. The case involved a safety officer that was tragically killed on the job and a dispute arose as to which benefits his heirs were entitled to. Mr. Vines was successful in obtaining a favorable award in the trial court that provided for death benefits to the deceased officer’s children as well as CalPERS benefits on behalf of the widow.
The State of California appealed the decision to the California Court of Appeal. RKM attorneys successfully opposed the petition, allowing the widow and children to receive the full spectrum of benefits that they were entitled to as a result of their devastating loss.
