Workplace accident injures Los Angeles airport employee

When people think of workplace injuries, they may think of factories or construction sites as places where an employee would likely be injured while on-the-job. However, workplace accidents can occur just about anywhere, including airports.

Recently, a California airport employee suffered injuries in a work-related accident involving a scissor lift. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department, the accident occurred at the Los Angeles International Airport's Gate 83 in Terminal 8. The 22-year-old man was operating a scissor lift when he was pinned against a building. Prior to the fire department crew's arrival, he was freed by his co-workers. He sustained minor torso trauma and back pain and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. He is expected to recover from the injuries and is listed in good condition.

A workplace accident can be difficult for a worker for many reasons. Often, when a worker suffers injuries, he is unable to work or provide for himself or his family. There is also the matter of medical expenses and other expenses. To alleviate or lessen such problems, a worker can file a workers' compensation claim to help during the time of recovery.

The claim may bring benefits to aid the worker with his or her medical expenses and compensate for lost wages. Besides job injuries, the claim may also be filed when a worker suffers an illness due to an unsafe work environment. During such challenging times, advice from a workplace accident legal professional can be beneficial. A professional may be able to help with filing the claim, so that the benefits are claimed as soon as possible. Ultimately, workers should bear in mind that they are protected by law when suffering an injury or illness in the workplace.
