During this holiday season, many Los Angeles residents are once again coming together to spend time with family and friends. Unfortunately, some are unable to experience these joyful times, after tragic incidents occur that seriously injure or kill loved ones.
It is troubling that these life changing incidents can occur at any time. A simple drive to work or the store can suddenly become deadly when other motorists do not follow the rules of the road.
For instance, the family that was involved in a fatal car crash earlier this year involving Caitlyn Jenner is suing Jenner for injuries suffered in that crash. The accident occurred after Jenner rear-ended a woman's vehicle, which pushed the car into oncoming traffic and resulted in the woman's death. Law enforcement determined Jenner was travelling at an unsafe speed at the time of the crash, although they declined to file criminal charges.
The SUV that struck the deceased woman's vehicle was driven by the family that has now sued Jenner for serious personal injury the family suffered in the crash. In particular, the driver alleges he suffered wrist injuries, while his wife suffered blunt-force injuries that requires ongoing treatment. Jenner is also being sued by the deceased woman's family, as well as another motorist involved in the crash.
The case illustrates how a simple mistake can lead to devastating consequences for multiple individuals. Cases such as these can lead to complex legal issues, as multiple lawsuits might be filed over the same crash or multiple individuals can be involved in a single lawsuit. The ultimate issue in these lawsuits will be to determine which driver or drivers was negligent in the crash, as that determination will result in the negligent driver being held responsible for the injuries or deaths that occurred.
