Two killed and three injured in California car collision

Multi-car accidents have the potential to cause significant property damage, serious injuries or even death. Because of this, those involved in a multi-car collision have the legal right to seek an appropriate judicial redress.

Recently, a four-car collision occurred on a highway in California, causing two deaths, three injuries and a car to be split in two. The auto accident allegedly occurred around 1:30 p.m. Authorities indicated that the crash may have happened when a Jetta containing a 32-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man allegedly attempted to pass a Mini Cooper containing a student driver, age 15, and his driving teacher. The force of the collision split the Jetta in two, killing those inside.

The accident also caused a van to flip over, injuring two people inside it. Another person inside a Honda was also injured. All of those injured had moderate, non-life-threatening injuries that were treated at the hospital. The speed of all the vehicles at the time of the accident is unclear, and the area of the highway where the incident occurred is in a no-passing zone. The highway was closed as a result of the accident and has since re-opened.

Car accidents are a major threat to the safety of motorists, and they have a variety of causes. They can be due to the negligence of the driver, or due to bad weather or poor road conditions. Distracted or intoxicated drivers have reduced attention and lesser judgment skills, so they are more likely to cause auto accidents. In addition, drivers who disregard traffic signs are extremely likely to cause accidents. Fatal car accidents are frequently avoidable, and extremely costly to all involved.

Anyone impacted by an auto accident may be entitled to file a personal injury lawsuit and to recover damages for medical bills, lost wages and any permanent or temporary disability caused by the accident. These lawsuits are premised on the allegation that the defendant breached a duty of ordinary care towards the victims causing their deaths. By filing a personal injury lawsuit negligent parties can be held responsible for the damages they caused.
