Auto crash kills a 4-year-old pedestrian boy in Los Angeles

Death is inevitable, but the demise of a person due to someone else's negligence is a different matter. In California, specifically in Los Angeles, readers understand that some deaths can be prevented by exercising caution. For example, many auto crashes that resulted in death could have been prevented, if the driver who caused that crash: followed traffic rules or regulations, drove sober or yielded to another driver.

A wrongful death lawsuit may arise in a recent pedestrian accident in Los Angeles, California. Based on a report, a woman was pushing her 4-year-old nephew in a stroller when a car struck them, dragging the boy a block to the following intersection, where the driver of the car turned and left the scene of the crash. The accident killed the little boy and injured his aunt.

People who witnessed the incident followed the driver of the car and managed to capture the woman who was a passenger in the car, but the driver got away. The woman was taken into custody for questioning. The driver who fled the scene was described as a 23-year-old Latino man with a light complexion, tattoos on his left arm and piercings in his nose and ears.

Cases, such as this, are devastating for the family of the deceased. The person who caused the crash is likely to be prosecuted in criminal court for various offenses. For the family of the victim, justice may be served, if the driver is convicted of the crime. The family can also opt to file a wrongful death claim against the defendant.

Here in Los Angeles, it is best for a person whose loved one has died, due to the negligence of another party to seek sound legal advice to determine available options. This may bring relief to the family's suffering and offer compensation for medical, funeral expenses and other costs.
