Posted on September 4, 2012 in Car Accidents

A 27-year-old California woman and her 4-year-old and 6-year-old daughters were killed recently in a car accident when a car in oncoming traffic struck their Dodge Caravan, causing it to spin over and hit a pole. The car accident occurred when the car in oncoming traffic, a grey Infinity, driven by a 74-year-old man, swerved into the wrong side of the road, striking the car driven by the woman. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and several nearby streets were shut down for the police investigation.

The impact of seeing a friend, family member, or loved one injured or killed in a car accident cannot be overstated. Such an event involves immense emotional and mental trauma. In addition, there are the financial costs, including repairs to the car, and expenses for medical care and lost wages. The sheer expense of it all can be overwhelming for someone still trying to cope with the shock and grief of seeing a loved one injured or killed in a car accident.

Fortunately, the family members of a victim of a fatal car crash are entitled to a just and fair compensation. They can work to recover compensation from the insurance company for medical expenses, lost wages, and any other costs. They are also entitled to seek monetary damages from the defendant for his or her negligence or recklessness. They can obtain a judgment in a court of law against the defendant for his or her recklessness or negligence, and can obtain the appropriate monetary damages.

The family of a fatal auto accident victim need not suffer through financial hardship on top of emotional pain. They are entitled to receive any and all appropriate monetary compensation for what they have lost if negligence contributed to the crash.
