Two-car crash on Interstate 5 injures 11 in Anaheim

Every driver on the roadways is required to pay complete attention to traffic at all times when behind the wheel. Any form of negligent driving such as impaired driving or distracted driving endangers the lives of other people on the road.

In Anaheim recently, 11 people were hurt in a car accident after two vehicles collided on Interstate 5 just north of La Palma Avenue. According to a California Highway Patrol officer, the crash occurred a few minutes before noon when the driver of a Mini Cooper made an unsafe lane change and hit the side of a GMC Yukon.

The SUV driver lost control, and the vehicle traveled across several lanes, hit a median divider and turned over. No other vehicles were involved.

All 11 people in the SUV sustained minor to moderate injuries. They were taken to the hospitals for medical treatment. The Mini Cooper driver and passenger were uninjured. The CHP is continuing its investigation into the accident's cause and liability.

When a car crash injures someone, the victim or his or her family can file a personal injury lawsuit against any vehicle driver who is determined to have been negligent. The injured party should not consider an out-of-court settlement before speaking with a legal professional who can help establish the liability of the negligent party and determine what would be fair compensation.

Injuries and deaths come with emotional distress and financial burdens from medical expenses, funeral costs and lost wages. Although insurance can cover such losses, victims still must wait before receiving compensation, which is often inadequate.

All motorists are responsible for the safety of people in their own vehicles and those around them on the road. Reckless behavior, such as distracted driving, speeding, failure to yield and drunken driving put the safety of others at risk and can injure and kill.
